What is the Lymphatic System
Your lymphatic system is a network of organs, vessels and tissues that work together to move a colourless, watery fluid (lymph) back into your circulatory system (your bloodstream).
As a vital part of your immune system, your lymphatic system protects you from infection and destroys old or abnormal cells your body doesn’t need. Lymphatic system functions also include maintaining normal fluid levels in your body and absorbing fats and fat-soluble vitamins so they can make their way into your bloodstream.
Lymphoedema is a condition characterized by the swelling of body parts, typically the arms or legs, due to a build-up of lymph fluid. This occurs when the lymphatic system is not functioning properly, often as a result of surgery, injury, or certain medical conditions. Symptoms may include swelling discomfort, and restricted movement. Early diagnosis and management are crucial to reducing symptoms and improving quality of life.
Lymphoedema
Lipoedema
Lipoedema is a connective adipose tissue disorder that almost exclusively affects women. It is characterised by a symmetrical, disproportionate distribution and build-up of abnormal fat. This mainly affects the hips, buttocks and legs, and sometimes the arms. The fat is different to ‘normal’ fat, and affected skin can therefore be uneven and nodular in texture. Heaviness, discomfort and pain in the affected areas are common symptoms. Lipoedema can impair mobility and normal day-to-day activities and wellbeing.
Scar Therapy
Restore Scar Therapy is a non-invasive, evidence-informed treatment designed to improve scar appearance, function, and comfort through specialized massage, fascial release, and supportive therapies.
